Albino African-American Performance Artist M. Nahadr Releases New Album on LiveWired Music entitled: "Eclectic Is M" "4 Stars" - Billboard, AMG
M. Nahadr critically acclaimed Performance Artist releases New Album on LiveWired Music entitled: "Eclectic Is M" "4 Stars" - Billboard, AMG
New York, NY (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 27, 2006 -- Having worked with such illustrious names as Chaka Khan, Nona Hendryx, Maxwell and Salif Keita singer and composer M. Nahadr is poised to step into a spotlight of her own with her aptly titled new album EclecticIsM. Co-produced by Grammy Award winner James P. Nichols, the album is a stunning vehicle for M.'s impressive multi-octave range, which she pushes to extremes on cuts like the funk-laden "Getting Up From Down Under," the drum-n-bass fugue "Trip" and the very personal ballad "Blue Morning Sunday." With jazz and electronic improv as her guiding muses (working with members of the free jazz cooperative Test), M. describes a transcendent arc of love and faith, tempered with the strength, swagger and power of straight-up diva soul.In a gatefold cardboard sleeve. Release party/showcase in NYC and limited east coast tour dates, with possible west coast dates in June.
"Really righteous work from M Nahadr -- a singer with a sound that's unlike anything else we can think of! At points, there's a slightly cosmic vibe to the music -- a bit like some of the hippest underground Cali soul of late -- but at other points, the album's got a complexity that's really hard to peg -- strands of many different musical ideas threading into the mix, brought together by M's full-on vocal power, and wrapped up in a shifting backdrop of instrumentation that includes complicated basslines, spacey keyboards, echoey trumpet, and more! Tracks vary in length and themes, which makes for an unending sense of surprise in the record -- elements of jazz in the mix, but an end result that's undeniably soulful.

"With her alabastrine skin and magnificent mane of dreadlocks, the performance artist M. Nahadr has a presence on stage that is hard to ignore and even harder to forget. Recently featured in Elle and Maxim magazines, the Maryland native combines music, poetry and theatre to create stage pieces such as MADWOMAN: A Contemporary Opera or her new disc, EclecticIsM (LiveWired), a "beyond category" motherlode that encompasses funk, R&B, blues and free jazz. "
-John Murph, The Root, The Washington Post
