Albino- African- American Songstress M. Nahadr in a one woman performance of 'Madwoman: A Contemporary Opera'
Supported by a Master team of Artists and Technicians, this presentation includes a state of the art customized multimedia system created by James P. Nichols, Broadway, Jazz and Grammy Award Winning Producer-Engineer with Dolby Laboratories; as well as Creative and Stage Direction by Claude E. Sloan, Jr. of the LOEB Drama Center Experimental Theater at Harvard, and the New York Shakespeare Festival at the Public Theater. Her work has been highlighted by National Geographic Magazine. http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0411/feature1/multimedia/index.html
M, an Internationally acclaimed Performance Artist based in New York, depicts a series of compositions, "M-enations" from a deemed "Madwoman," who faces the idea of "Integration of Duality," in an interactive multimedia installation of space, light, sound, items, images and concepts. This installation includes a live performance by M, and stands as a sculptured interactive art piece otherwise.
With a commanding 6+ octave range, M has captivated American and International audiences alike by exploring through song, spoken word and stunning visuals, paradox and duality both from without and within. That M is a woman of color with albinism, Madwoman is inspired even more with a most unique perspective on the notion of difference entirely.
Catch this event on July 25 2007, 11pm at Joe's Pub (part of the Public Theater, New York)
Reviews and Quotes:
"All the best Musicians in New York know her and there is -what should I say - a high level of respect, reverence, even awe for her talent. Sabir Mateen, saxophone legend, calls her simply, The Great One."
-Gary Heidt, New York Museum of Sound Recording
"Her voice soothes and excites envelopes and comforts. She is simply one of a kind!"
-Debbie de Coudreaux, Star of the Moulin Rouge, Paris
"The talent of M is international and very broad. Here voice is as strong as her charisma…"
-George Visser, President MoJo Theater Productions
La Vie en Rose with Liesbeth List (English Translation from Dutch National Newspaper)
"Liesbeth is wonderful in the show, truly wonderful indeed; but that she was almost completely blown away by the blind black/white albino singer M, from New York, introduced by Director Mathew Dickens is apparent. With her gigantic range of six octaves, and a beautifully brilliant jazzy-blues voice, she brings back the Harlem Pre-War Experience to Holland."
-Patrick van den Hazenberg, De Volkskrant, The Netherlands
"A gothic diva! . . . . . . ."
